For whom, and when
This guide works for every couple, whatever the gender of the person giving. It suits beginners ready to take their time as well as regulars stuck in a rut. And cunnilingus deserves to be a moment in its own right, not a warm-up lap before penetration.
Pick an evening with no early alarm, and a shower together beforehand if one of you cares about it. Hair, scent, the look of her vulva: it's her body, not an inspection. After 50, the clitoris keeps its capacity for pleasure, though the mucous membrane can get drier: saliva and water-based lube then make a good team.
Herpes, gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis can also be passed on by mouth: with a partner who hasn't been tested recently, a dental dam (a thin square of latex laid over the vulva) reduces that risk. You'll find them at pharmacies or at family planning clinics. A cold sore on your lips? Wait until it's gone: herpes can spread to the genitals. Never go from the anus to the vulva. Pain, burning, itching or unusual discharge: talk to a doctor or a midwife.
