Between sea and salt marshes
The Vieux Salins beach stretches along a site apart, wedged between the Mediterranean and the old salt marshes of Hyères. The naturist section runs about 350 to 500 meters of sand, extended by a 500 to 800 meter textile zone for those who prefer to keep their swimsuit on.
The Conservatoire du Littoral manages the surrounding land, which explains this landscape that has stayed wild, with no concrete or buildings along the shore. The Port-Cros national park isn't far, and you can feel it in the water quality: clear, shallow over a good distance, rather reassuring for families with kids.
Easy access, everything is sorted
You get there on foot along a path running by the salt marshes, no climbing or effort involved. On site: parking, a first aid post, showers, and beach huts nearby for eating or grabbing a drink without leaving the atmosphere.
Entry is free and open, which isn't so common for a beach this organized. Capacity climbs to 2000 or 3000 people at the height of summer, without the management suffering for it according to regulars.
A beach that's alive all year round
The beach is open all year, with a logical peak in summer season. It's one of twelve beaches approved by the Fédération Française de Naturisme in the PACA region, a status that guarantees a recognized setting and serious management.
It's the Amicale de la Plage Naturiste des Vieux Salins de Hyères that runs the place's activities. It organizes yoga sessions, naturist hikes along the nearby trails, friendly picnics and musical evenings, enough to turn a simple day of sunbathing into a real social outing.
