A wild, preserved setting

Rossignol Beach hides about 6 kilometers from the center of Le Lavandou, along the CD 559. It's a small cove of fine sand bordered by rocks, set in a Mediterranean landscape that's still fairly raw.

No facilities, no shops in sight: that's exactly what makes it charming for those who come looking for a bit of tranquility away from the crowded big beaches of the Var coast.

An access route that filters out the crowds

You don't stumble onto this beach by chance. You have to go down a fairly steep and sometimes tricky path, which discourages families loaded down with gear and leaves room for the regulars.

Water shoes are strongly recommended once you're there, since rocks mix in with the sand over part of the cove. The parking, though, is free, which is worth appreciating in a region where paid parking is often the norm.

Naturist atmosphere and discretion

Naturism has been practiced here for a long time and the spot draws a loyal crowd, French and international alike (German and Dutch naturists are numerous here). The isolated, hard-to-reach-by-car side of it reinforces that feeling of a reserved, almost secret corner.

The quality of the sand, fine and clean, is regularly mentioned by regulars. The water is described as clear, which makes it a good spot for swimming outside of peak hours.

On the other hand, the site's discretion has a downside: in the middle of summer, the small beach fills up fast. Visitors who come back year after year suggest arriving early in the morning to enjoy the spot before the midday rush.
