Plage des Salins

At Vieux Salins, a stone's throw from central Hyères, Plage des Salins unrolls more than three kilometers of fine sand facing the Îles d'Hyères. Part of this long stretch, right in the middle, is reserved for naturists, leaving room for everyone without the two crowds bumping into each other.

Access and parking

You get there via the coastal road, heading towards Les Vieux Salins. Two large free car parks welcome cars right nearby.

From there, a path runs along the salt marshes then the beach, about a 10 minute leisurely walk. The naturist zone is signposted 250 meters from the car park, clear enough that you know where you're putting your feet (and the rest).

The setting

The beach belongs to the town of Hyères, access is free and open, no ticket to pull out. The sand is fine, the open view over the islands gives it a postcard feel that's a nice change from more urban beaches.

For walkers or cyclists, the coastal path continues on towards the port of La Londe. Enough to stretch the walk out if you've got time on your hands.

Atmosphere

The crowd mixes regular naturists with families here to enjoy the space. The easy access makes it a popular entry point for anyone starting out with naturism who doesn't want to trek down a complicated path.

As for how busy it gets, school holidays send the numbers on the sand climbing, the beach being long but very much in demand during those periods. Out of season or on weekdays, the space breathes a lot easier.
