A hidden cove in the Estérel
Le Trayas occupies a small inlet between the Pointe Maubois and the Cap Roux, right in the heart of the Estérel massif. It's one of the rare naturist beaches in the region to be officially authorized, a sign put up by the Saint-Aygulf communauté de communes makes that clear right at the entrance. The ground mixes sand and rocks, typical of this still wild stretch of coast between Saint-Raphaël and Théoule-sur-Mer.
Who you'll find there
The crowd is above all a family one. Naturist families come to spend the day, enjoying the relative calm of the place despite its reputation. In summer, the beach also draws a gay naturist crowd, without that changing the overall atmosphere, which stays pretty relaxed and easygoing.
Access and distances
Le Trayas is about 19 km from Saint-Raphaël, 11 km from Théoule-sur-Mer and roughly twenty kilometers southwest of Cannes. The road that runs along the Estérel gives you a taste of the steep terrain you have to cross to reach the cove, which partly explains why it has stayed so unspoiled.
What stands out
Regulars consider it the most accessible and safest naturist beach in the Saint-Raphaël area, precisely because it's recognized by the local authorities. People come here for the family atmosphere, the beauty of the setting between red rocks and turquoise sea, and that feeling of being a little apart from the world, without ever feeling cut off.
