A beach with two faces
In Torreilles, just before the Spanish border, Plage Sud holds a special place on the French Mediterranean coast: it's the last official naturist beach before Spain. The first aid post marks the dividing line between the two atmospheres.
On the right, naturism. On the left, a classic family beach. This clean split is exactly what regulars mention first, it avoids misunderstandings and everyone finds their spot without feeling watched.
How to get there
Access is via the D81, heading toward Torreilles. A small free parking lot waits at the end of a dusty track, not exactly glamorous but it does the job.
The access road remains the most mentioned sore point: bumpy, dusty, you shake the car around a bit before arriving. Once you're there, it's quickly forgotten.
Fine sand and water that goes down gently
The beach offers pleasant fine sand and a gradual entry into the water, without a sudden drop or big rocks. That's the kind of detail that matters for families as much as for naturists who come to splash around calmly.
A water point sits on the left entrance side, handy for rinsing your feet before leaving. Showers and toilets are available in season, along with access designed for people with reduced mobility.
Who comes here
At the height of summer, there are about a hundred people on the naturist side. The crowd is mostly couples and families in their fifties, with some younger singles too.
Dogs are allowed, which pleases a lot of people but can also crowd the space a bit in high season, as several visitors note. Restaurants and private beach areas exist nearby for those who want to stretch the day out.

Reviews praise the clear water, the clean separation between zones and a discreet naturist atmosphere, without excess. People come here to relax, not for a show.
On the other hand, a few visitors regret the presence of plant debris depending on the season, on top of that access road that makes almost everyone wince. Nothing dramatic, but it does tip the scale a bit for a beach that's otherwise appreciated for its natural setting and relative calm.
