Les Maisons de la Jetée occupy the southern part of the large naturist zone of Port-Leucate, a 45 hectare estate that ranks among the oldest and largest of its kind in France. The place has existed since the 1980s and has kept, over time, the look of a village rather than a campsite or a standard holiday resort.
The architecture follows Mediterranean codes: Roman tiles, ochre facades, tree-lined gardens that have had forty years to grow. The result is shaded lanes and a sense of privacy that newer naturist zones don't always have.
