The setting
The naturist beach of Sainte-Croix stretches along the banks of the artificial lake of Sainte-Croix, an 11 kilometer stretch of water straddling the Var and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence regions. We're right in the heart of the Verdon Regional Nature Park here, between the villages of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon, Les Salles-sur-Verdon and Bauduen.
This is an informal nudist zone, with no facilities or official supervision. Access is notably via the GR99 B trails running along the lake's left bank.
Access and price
You can get in freely, at any hour, all year round, without paying a thing. No particular amenities are noted on site.
A fragile status
The neighboring Eden Park beach, long cited as a naturist site, eventually banned nudism after incidents linked to exhibitionist and swinger behavior on its edges. This situation has created local tensions around unsupervised naturist practice across the whole lake. Other areas, around Montpézat and Esparron-de-Verdon, are also mentioned by naturists as being tolerated.
