The Centre de vie naturiste du Ventous is nothing like a classic campsite. It's a tiny site, tucked away at 650 meters of altitude in the Vallespir, on a 42-hectare property of which only 4 are set up to welcome visitors.
We're far from the crowded naturist complexes of the coast: here, nature stays wild, unpolluted, and the pace is that of a place to live rather than a place to pass through.
Modest accommodation
The centre offers about ten pitches for tents, caravans and small motorhomes. The sanitary facilities run on dry toilets, which sets the tone: people come here looking for simplicity, not hotel comfort.
A common area is available for grilling and sharing meals. Swimming happens in the river that runs through the property, with access to a pool for days when the natural water is less tempting. A pétanque court rounds out the on-site activities, and pets are welcome.
A community life
What really sets Ventous apart is the collective life organised there. Once to three times a week, shared meals bring residents together around the same table, in a convivial rather than a social-climbing spirit.
Reviews describe a tight-knit community, not very chatty at first glance but respectful and warm once introductions are made. People come here for the authenticity of naturism, not for performance or exhibition.
Access and membership
The site works on a membership basis: an AANR or INF card is requested at the entrance, which naturally filters attendance towards regular naturists rather than curious passersby.
The centre is open from mid-June to the end of September, with denser attendance in July and August. Wifi is available on site, useful for extended stays.
What visitors say
Feedback praises the successful integration of the place into its natural surroundings and the deliberately small size of the site, which encourages exchanges between residents. A few visitors note a somewhat reserved welcome at first, quickly made up for by the mutual respect that reigns on site.
This centre is aimed above all at committed naturists, looking for a place without frills, closer to a shared campsite than an equipped one. For a first approach to family naturism with plenty of services, other addresses on the coast will be better suited.
