An institution in Ambilly
Le King Sauna has been around since 1979, making it one of the oldest establishments of its kind in France. Set in the L'Impérial building in Ambilly, right at the gates of Geneva, the place spans 400 m² and has made it through the decades by gradually modernizing its facilities.
The sauna, hammam and bubble jacuzzi have been redone, along with the showers. A heated circulation area lets you move between the different zones without freezing your bits off, which is no small detail in this type of establishment.
A mixed clientele
The establishment describes itself as both gay and libertine, welcoming couples and women on their own. This dual orientation gives it a particular vibe, different from a classic heterosexual swingers club or a traditional gay sauna.
Access is reserved for adults aged 18 and over, as everywhere in this sector.
What you'll find on site
Beyond the wellness areas (sauna, hammam, jacuzzi), Le King Sauna has a bar with a Licence IV, changing rooms and an erotic shop (Boutique X), with a partnership for the sale of certain products. A fitness offer is also available, which is a bit outside the usual pattern for clubs of this kind.
On the prevention side, the establishment offers anonymous, free screening tests, a point that few libertine clubs put forward so clearly.
Nights and prices
On Thursdays, from 6:30 pm, it's time for the Black-out night, with a free non-alcoholic drink at the door. On Fridays and Saturdays, entry goes up to 17 euros after 10 pm. For regulars, a 12-entry pass brings the unit price down to 19 euros.
On the last Saturday of the month, massage sessions are offered on site (by someone named Fabrice, according to visitor feedback).
What regulars say
Opinions are mixed. Some visitors appreciate the friendly atmosphere, the quality of the welcome and a clientele described as pleasant, in a place considered well kept.
Others point to aging facilities, showers that are sometimes lukewarm and a worn changing room. The noise of the sauna also comes up in several reviews, with some comparing it to an airport runway. Drink prices at the bar are also seen as high by some customers.
