A singular setting north of Hendaye

Plage des Deux Jumeaux stretches out at the foot of the Château d'Abbadia, in the northern part of the town. Its name comes from two rocks standing side by side, like twin brothers planted in the sand. It's precisely near these rocks, at the southeastern end of the beach, that you'll find the area reserved for naturists.

The sand is fine, and access is easy from boulevard de la Mer or rue d'Armatonde. Landscape-wise, this is a classic ocean beach, but with this little separate territory where swimsuits come off.

A naturist status that has had its share of turbulence

Between 2021 and 2024, a municipal decree banned naturism at this site. The administrative court of Pau eventually overturned the ban, and the beach went back to its naturist habits. Today, the practice is once again tolerated in the dedicated zone, making it one of the few recognized naturist spots in the Basque Country.

A mixed crowd

You'll come across families, couples, solo men and a gay crowd here, without this creating any particular tension. The immediate proximity to the Spanish border also brings in plenty of visitors from the other side, giving the beach a fairly cosmopolitan vibe for a naturist site.

Feedback describes a family atmosphere despite this diversity, a setting deemed wholesome, and generally good upkeep of the site during peak season.

Facilities and supervision

The beach is supervised during the summer season, with an active first aid post. On site, you'll find toilets, showers and access adapted for people with reduced mobility thanks to the Handiplage system.
