An immensity of sand and dunes

The Vieille-Église beach stretches over more than 10 kilometers at the foot of the Hattainville dunes, which climb in places up to 80 meters high. This is far from the developed beaches with parasols and snack bars along the sand: here, everything is raw, natural, without the slightest tourist construction.

This wild character is precisely what draws people in. Visitors often mention the amount of space available and the calm, two things that are increasingly rare along the coast in summer.

Naturism, yes, but discreet

Nudity is tolerated on this beach, but not in the same way everywhere. The northern sector, closer to Vieille-Église, is also frequented by clothed families, so the unspoken rule is simple: stay discreet and don't set up right in the middle of the walkway.

Regular naturists tend to spread out toward the more isolated areas, in the dune hollows, where cohabitation happens without any fuss. It's a beach where nudity and swimwear cross paths without causing problems, as long as this balance is respected.

Access and practical info

You get there from Les Moitiers-d'Allonne, heading toward Hattainville up to the main parking lot. From there, a path crosses the dunes to reach the sand.

Access is free all year round, depending on the weather of course: the west coast of the Manche isn't always gentle. There's no lifeguard supervision or shops on site, so it's better to arrive with what you need, water and something to eat in particular.

The feedback all points to the same thing: the sense of space and preserved nature. The imposing dunes, the absence of infrastructure, the tranquility even in high season, all of this comes up often in the descriptions found on naturist forums and local guides.

Naturist attendance here is described as respectful, which probably explains why the sector has worked well for years without any particular tension between different uses of the beach.
