A preserved cove
Vauville beach stretches along a wide bay with no roads or buildings, between Cap de Flamanville and Nez de Jobourg. It's a wild beach in the fullest sense of the word, with no shops or tourist infrastructure nearby.
Just behind it, the Réserve Naturelle de la Mare de Vauville offers a marked trail and observation points for bird lovers. The setting sets the tone: here people come for nature, not entertainment.
Discreet naturism
Naturism isn't organized or officially signposted, but several guides mention informal practice on part of the beach, sometimes also frequented by a gay crowd. Nothing structured then, more a de facto tolerance on a space large enough to find your own quiet corner.
Access and practical info
Entry is free, all year round, with free parking available. You can get there via the D37 or the D118 depending on where you're coming from.
The waves can be strong, which explains the spot's popularity among surfers. No amenities on the beach itself, so it's best to bring water and gear before settling in.
