Carolles Plage

A setting that stands out from the ordinary

Carolles Plage nestles at the foot of the cliffs, along the Chemin des Pêcheurs, right where the rocky coastline of the Manche tips over into the vastness of the Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel. The ground mixes sand and rocky patches, with a few pebbles here and there, and the beach stretches north all the way to Jullouville.

The cliffs towering over the site to the south give the place quite a spectacular relief, far from flat, soulless beaches. It's this landscape, more than any infrastructure, that has built the spot's reputation in tourist and naturist guides.

Access and practical info

Access to the beach is free year round, with no set hours. Parking costs money in summer, which remains the site's only financial catch.

A ramp allows wheelchair access during the summer season. In July and August, lifeguards watch over swimmers, a real plus if you're coming as a family or just want to swim with peace of mind. Dogs aren't allowed between June 15th and September 15th.

On site

Toilets and showers are available on site, and restaurants as well as cafes sit right nearby to extend the outing. Rows of traditional beach cabins line the seafront, a detail that gives the whole place a bit of retro charm.

On the activities side, you'll find volleyball and the option to fish straight from the beach. Enough to fill a whole day without ever having to move your car.

The crowd is mixed: naturists, families and passing visitors cross paths without any particular fuss, in an atmosphere that owes as much to classic seaside leisure as to naturist practice. Reviews often mention one of the finest beaches in the bay, both for the scenery and for the overall calm.
