Naturist Beach in Mimizan (Landes): Info and Access

One beach, two zones

Mimizan lines up several kilometres of fine sand along the Landes coast, and naturism happens in two specific spots there. South of Plage Sud on one side, north of Plage Nord (also known as Remember beach) on the other. Neither zone is officially classified as naturist, but the practice is tolerated on the edges of the supervised swimming areas.

This edge-of-zone setup changes the mood depending on where you lay your towel. The further you get from the lifeguard post, the more naturists you find, and the wilder the setting becomes.

Remember, the end of the world

Remember beach, at the northern tip of Mimizan, has a reputation of its own: unspoiled surroundings, dunes running far into the distance, few visible facilities. This is where naturist attendance is strongest, in a setting that stands apart from the rest of the resort.

People come here as much for the calm as for the nudity, in a setting that stays fairly raw despite being close to the seaside centre.

Surfing, families and textiles

Mimizan remains first and foremost a surfing destination, and you can feel it on the beaches. Surf schools take up a good part of the space in season, and the crowd mixes surfers, families on holiday and naturists, everyone finding their own patch.

This mix makes for a lively setting rather than a quiet one. This is far from an isolated naturist beach: here, nudity is practiced on the fringes of a seaside spot that's very busy in summer.

Practical info

The beaches are accessible all year round, but naturist practice naturally concentrates in spring, summer and autumn, when the temperatures allow it. Lifeguard supervision runs in season over the swimming zones, with a council-run car park nearby.
