Lourtuais beach is the only stretch of sand where naturism is officially allowed in Erquy, and even across all of northern Brittany. A legal status that changes everything: no legal grey area, no fear of being disturbed, a municipal decree from 1996 clearly frames things.
The beach stretches over 400 meters, with fine sand that takes on a slightly pinkish hue depending on the light. The left side is reserved for naturists, the right stays clothed. The sharing happens naturally, without tension between the two crowds.
A backdrop of cliffs and pines
The site is framed by wild cliffs, with pine woods and moorland that stretch almost down to the sand. In spring and summer, gorse and heather blooms add a touch of color to the landscape. Several small coves dot the coastline, for those looking for a more intimate spot.
Swimming presents no particular reported danger, which reassures families as well as couples who've come to enjoy the setting.
How to get there
From Erquy, take the Cap d'Erquy road toward Portuais. Park at the Lourtouais parking lot, then reach the beach via the coastal path, with wooden steps set up for the descent. No direct car access to the sand, you have to walk a bit, but the path is already part of the getaway.

What the regulars say
Feedback from naturists is clearly positive, especially around the unspoiled setting and the official character of the site, which reassures those still hesitant to go nude in public. Several mention a respectful atmosphere, where everyone enjoys their own patch of sand without being stared at.
Local residents regularly take part in maintaining the site and organize clean-up operations, which partly explains the generally good condition of the place. Management is handled by an association affiliated with the Fédération Française de Naturisme, which guarantees at least some oversight and mediation if issues arise.
