Tucked away in the Calanques National Park in Marseille, Pierres Tombées naturist beach is one of those places you earn after the effort. No sand here, just a rocky slab and pebble patches that plunge into turquoise water, framed by the limestone cliffs typical of Marseille's calanques.
An official status that's recent, a history that's much older
Nudism has been practised at this site since the early 20th century, somewhere between 1900 and 1930 according to longtime regulars. Yet it took until June 2022 for a municipal order to officially recognize the naturist purpose of the site, in the Sugiton calanque.
This unusual setting changes everything. We're right in the middle of a national park here, with all the preservation rules that come with it, but also that protected mineral landscape that makes the whole charm of the place.
Access that you have to earn
No road leads directly to Pierres Tombées. You have to take the path starting from the Sugiton calanque, a trail described as difficult, over rugged terrain, as is often the case in the Calanques massif.
The site faces a real risk of falling rocks, which led to drainage work to secure certain areas. Access can be closed periodically depending on the state of the terrain, a constraint specific to this kind of site in a protected zone.

The naturist slab and pebble areas welcome naturists, couples, families and passing hikers. Access is free and the site stays open all year, with no fixed hours.
Nudity is the stated norm on the site that lists this location. Don't expect any particular infrastructure: no refreshment stand, no restrooms. Come prepared and leave with your trash.
