On the Mediterranean shores of Cap d'Agde, the Centre Hélio-Marin René Oltra has been part of the naturist landscape since 1956. Nearly seventy years of existence shows in the way the site is organised as much as in the clientele, a mix of loyal families and newcomers curious to try full nudity on holiday.
A sprawling estate
The centre stretches over 39 hectares with direct beach access, which changes things compared to naturist campsites where you have to cross a road to reach the water. You'll find pitches for tents and caravans, but also chalets, mobile homes, wooden cabins and higher end cottages that can host anywhere from 2 to more than 6 people.
The 4 star rating shows in the shared facilities: showers, toilets and drinking water are available across the whole site.
Sport and wellness on site
The 370 sqm fitness room, fitted out with TechnoGym equipment, is free to access as soon as you book accommodation at the centre (a few exceptions apply depending on the season). Group classes are included in that package, no need to pay extra to join a session.
Next door, the wellness area offers a sauna, hammam and massages, for those who want to unwind after a day at the beach or a workout. This kind of offering stays rare in typical naturist campsites, which often make do with a pool and a bar.
The sea and sailing
The Paralia sailing school is set up on site, which means you can learn or improve your skills without leaving the centre. With direct beach access, the day can be split between sunbathing, swimming and a sailing trip without ever having to step outside the grounds.
Three restaurants and several shops round out the offering, plenty to eat on site without having to go shopping every day. An organic garden grown on the centre supplies part of the produce used in the kitchen.
Practical info
The centre is open from 15 March to 15 October, which covers a good chunk of the Mediterranean naturist season, before and after the summer peak. Booking accommodation ahead is recommended, especially in high season when the crowds at Cap d'Agde really pick up.
