A setting apart on the Languedoc coast
Between Valras-Plage and Portiragnes, Sérignan beach stretches out over fine sand, backed by dunes that shelter it from wind and prying eyes. On the land side, the Orpellières nature reserve closes off the landscape and keeps this stretch of coastline safe from concrete. The result is a beach that has kept a genuinely wild character, rare on this part of the Mediterranean coast.
Naturism is officially permitted here, so this isn't a half heartedly tolerated zone but an area actually designed for it. People come to be naked without a second thought, in a setting that has lent itself to that for a long time.
Access and services
The beach connects directly to the neighboring naturist campsites, Sérignan Plage Nature (5 stars) and Le Clos Ferrand, via a path laid out through the protective dune. It's this direct link that makes the place special: parking, showers and food are all on the campsite side, just a few minutes' walk from the sand.
There's no independent infrastructure on the beach itself, so it's best to go through one of the two campsites to enjoy the amenities. That said, access stays simple and quick for anyone coming from these establishments.
Atmosphere and crowd
The beach draws a mixed crowd, families, couples and longtime naturists, in an atmosphere that stays calm and free of tension. Regulars keep pointing to this serene climate, far from the sometimes party like image of other naturist spots on the coast.
As for the season, over 300 days of sunshine a year spread out the crowds, and the beach stays accessible year round, even if the mood obviously shifts between July and a March afternoon. Publications specializing in naturism regularly rank it among the most beautiful beaches of its kind in Languedoc-Roussillon, an opinion widely shared by those who spend time there.
Good to know
With no campsite of your own to park at, direct access to the beach isn't straightforward, it's best to plan on going through Sérignan Plage Nature or Le Clos Ferrand. The fine sand and low density of buildings make it a pleasant spot for a long day, between swimming and napping in the shade of the dunes.
