On the shores of the lagoon
Le Clapotis is a two-star naturist campsite set between Narbonne and Perpignan, in the town of La Palme, right on a lagoon. Access to the water is direct from the grounds, which makes it a favorite spot for windsurfers and kitesurfers taking advantage of the coastal winds.
The view stretches over the coastal vineyards and the lagoon itself, in a setting that stays calm even at the height of the season. The Mediterranean beaches aren't far for those who want to alternate between a swim in the sea and lounging on site.
Accommodation and pitches
The grounds have around a hundred pitches split between tents, caravans and mobile homes for rent. That suits regulars who bring their own gear just as well as families who prefer to find a fully equipped mobile home waiting on arrival.
The mix of private pitches and tourist rentals sometimes limits availability at peak season, worth keeping in mind if you're booking last minute.
Restaurant and on site services
The restaurant La Paillote serves a menu that changes regularly, with fairly generous portions and cooking that regulars recommend. The campsite bar and grocery shop mean you can stay on site without having to go out for food or drink.
Wifi covers the grounds, and activities are organized every week to give the stay some rhythm, in an atmosphere that stays family friendly rather than party oriented.

On the other hand, the out of service pool regularly disappoints those hoping for a swim. The lagoon itself isn't great for swimming because of algae and mud in places, and the wind, an asset for watersports, sometimes gets in the way of bike rides. The town center of La Palme is about 3.5 kilometers away, so having a means of transport is worth it to make the most of it.
