Between lagoon and sea
The GCU Port Leucate campsite is part of Village Ulysse, one of the historic naturist zones on the Aude coastline. Set on a coastal strip between the Leucate lagoon and the Mediterranean, the grounds cover 22,000 m² managed by the Groupement des Campeurs Universitaires, an association that has been running this site for a long time.
That associative status shows in the atmosphere: regulars describe a friendly, rather family oriented place, where the same faces reunite season after season. Naturism here is full time, as across the whole Village Ulysse.
Pitches and accommodation
The site has 83 pitches for tents, caravans and campervans, plus two Rapidhome Tithome mobile homes installed in 2023. Total capacity is around 256 people for a 2 star rated site, human sized when compared with the large naturist resorts nearby.
Disabled access is limited but does exist, and wifi covers the site. Enough to combine simple camping with a bit of comfort for those not arriving in a mobile home.
Beach and life on site
The real asset here is direct access to a naturist beach about 1 km long, supervised and equipped with a first aid post. The region enjoys around 300 days of sunshine a year, an argument that comes up often among those who spend time here.
On site, a swimming pool and a tennis court round out the offer, with shops built into the campsite for everyday needs. Campers can also enjoy the restaurants and activities of the neighbouring naturist villages, Aphrodite and Oasis, which extend the naturist zone of Port Leucate.
Rates and seasons
The campsite is open from 29 April to 27 September. Rates start around 14.45 euros a night for a pitch in the very low season, still accessible for a seaside naturist site.
The clientele mixes long time naturists, couples and families, with that university touch tied to the managing association's history. Few detailed reviews circulate online, but the site's reputation rests mostly on its longevity and the loyalty of those who come back every summer.
