A historic address

L'Angelus occupies the spot once held by Liberty X, one of the very first sex shops in France, which appeared in the 1970s right in the centre of Rouen. The shop was fully renovated in 2022 and taken over by the owner of Le Diablotin, another well known name in the Normandy swinger scene.

That change of hands brought a real facelift: new decor, new layout, but the address stays the same, at 65 rue de la République, right in the city centre.

What you'll find on the shelves

The selection covers the great classics of the loveshop: sex toys, lingerie, fetish accessories and outfits for swinger parties. L'Angelus puts particular emphasis on male pleasure, with a choice of stimulators, masturbators and realistic items.

You'll also find stimulating items for couples, following the logic of a general shop rather than one specialised for a single audience.

Atmosphere on site

The place plays the intimate card: a small structure run by a small team (an SARL with one to two employees), a cosy atmosphere rather than a flashy display. The customers who visit particularly appreciate this successful renovation, which modernised the place without it losing its character as a neighbourhood shop.

Few reviews circulate online on this point, the clientele seems to be more the discreet regular type than the internet commenter type.

Hours and practical info

L'Angelus is open Monday to Saturday, closed on Sunday. Monday it's 2pm to 8pm, Tuesday to Thursday from noon to 8pm, and Friday and Saturday from noon to 10pm, handy for a last minute urge before a night out.

Cash payment is accepted on site, alongside the usual payment methods. Access is not however adapted for people with reduced mobility. For any question before you go, the shop can be reached by phone or by email.
