A beach tucked into the dunes

Between Brétignolles-sur-Mer and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, Petit Pont beach stretches out over fine sand, framed by dunes classified Natura 2000. No buildings, no concrete seafront: the landscape stays deliberately wild, which is a good part of its charm.

Naturism is tolerated here without being officially regulated by a municipal order. In practice, the beach works as mixed use: naturists and swimmers in swimwear share the space, in proportions that vary depending on the season and the day's crowd.

How to get there

You get there via the D38 road toward Saint-Gilles, passing near Camping des Cyprès then following the path that leads to the Petit Pont restaurant. The free parking lot is about 500 meters from the beach.

From there, you need to walk about ten minutes through a forest trail to reach the sand. This short walk naturally filters out casual visitors and partly explains the calmer atmosphere found here compared to beaches with direct car access.

The atmosphere on site

Regulars describe a family-friendly place, where large families happily settle in during July and August without it feeling overcrowded. The available space is generous, which allows for a summer crowd while keeping a certain calm.

Online reviews emphasize the respect between visitors and an atmosphere that stays welcoming even during peak periods. The dunes, being fragile, receive special attention: access to them is limited to preserve the environment.

Good to know before you go

The beach is accessible year round and entry is free. That said, there is no lifeguard or first aid station, which calls for personal vigilance, especially when swimming.
