A naturist beach overseen by the town hall

Along the 5 kilometers of Pampelonne's sand, two sectors have been officially set aside for naturism since a municipal order in 2019. The town of Ramatuelle wanted to make things clear: here, no ambiguity about who does what, or where. The coastline alternates between textile beaches and naturist beaches, each one clearly marked.

The northern sector is called Gros Vallat, reached via the route de l'Épi, with a first aid post on site. To the south is Matarane, accessed from the boulevard des Tamaris, with a paid municipal parking lot right next to it. Two different vibes, two different ways to arrive, but the same official status.

A beach recognized by the federation

Neptune Plage, one of the establishments in this section of Pampelonne, is affiliated with the Fédération Française de Naturisme. It's a landmark for regulars of the naturist movement, who know they'll find here an organized setting, not just a patch of sand tolerated by default.

Worth noting too: naturism is just as widely practiced, in a more informal way, in the coves of Canadel a bit further along the town's coast. But it's really Gros Vallat and Matarane that draw the bulk of the organized naturist crowd.

Restaurants and parking on site

On the services side, the infrastructure is complete for a naturist beach: parking, restaurants nearby. You don't need to pack everything in your bag, there's plenty to eat and somewhere to settle in without having to head back into town.

The sand is fine across the whole area, and access is easy from the parking lots mentioned above. On a beach this long and this busy, having clear access points makes a real difference in terms of organization.

Vibe: family friendly by day, more free spirited in the evening

Feedback converges on one point: during the day, the atmosphere stays family friendly and relaxed, with plenty of regular naturists coming as couples or families. It's a beach that works well because the town hall takes it seriously, not just a sector left by the wayside.

Later in the day, the atmosphere shifts a bit and gets more libertine, according to several accounts. Those looking for an organized naturist beach, with real official status and clear boundaries between zones, will find here a setting that checks those boxes.
