A lake, a beach, an association

On the shores of the artificial lake of Pierre-Percée, in Meurthe-et-Moselle, this sandy beach is reserved for naturist practice. It's run by the association Les Amis Naturistes du Lac de Pierre Percée, based in Baccarat, which has organized and kept the site alive for years.

Nothing official on the club or center side of things: no bar here, no sun lounger rental. Just a red-earth parking lot, a bench, and free access to swimming in the middle of nature.

Access and setting

You park on the red-earth lot, located on the D182A, about 500 meters after the dam. From there, count on a five minute walk to reach the beach, which already filters out quite a few casual visitors.

The site is described as clean and quiet, with a genuine feel of untouched nature. The bottom is sandy, the swimming area open, and the whole place keeps a wild side, quite far removed from supervised, developed beaches.

Attendance, the touchy question

On the atmosphere side, feedback from naturists in the region speaks of a calm spot, appreciated precisely for that calm and raw natural feel. Families and couples meet up there with no dress code, in a relaxed setting.

But let's be honest: a local source claims that naturist practice isn't really alive there on the ground anymore, despite the site's official status. In other words, the naturist label still exists, but the reality of day to day attendance stays uncertain depending on who you ask.

When to go

The swimming season runs from June to September, with water warming up as the weeks go by. Access is free, with no fixed hours or entry fee mentioned.

A useful side note: on a mountain lake like this one, the water stays cool early in the season. Better to aim for July or August to fully enjoy the swim, though the beach stays accessible as soon as the good weather returns.
