Plage de Saline

Saline beach is the second largest stretch of sand on Saint-Barthélemy, right behind Flamands. You get there via a fairly wild path that winds through the vegetation before opening onto the white sand and turquoise water that make the island's reputation.

At the northern end of the beach, past a barrier of rocks, lies an area where nudism has been practiced for a long time. It isn't an officially designated naturist spot, but rather a habit that's settled in over time and is tolerated there.

Access and setting

Access is free year round, with no set hours and no checks. A free parking area serves the beach, with a small restaurant just before you reach the sand. Count on about 200 meters of walking from the parking lot to the beach, then a bit more to reach the naturist area behind the rocks.

There's no natural shade available anywhere, neither on the textile side nor the naturist one: bring a cap, sunscreen and a portable parasol if you're planning to spend the day.

Naturist area

The northern section, where naturists gather, is noticeably less crowded than the rest of the beach. That's exactly what makes it appealing: more privacy, less foot traffic, a calm atmosphere far from the bustle you can find on other beaches on the island.

The crowd that goes there is mixed: regular naturists, couples, sometimes families who are mostly looking for peace and quiet rather than a social or festive scene.

What visitors say

Feedback keeps pointing to the calm and the absence of surveillance or unwelcome comments, a point often highlighted by regulars of nudism on the island. The water is described as clean and calm, pleasant for swimming.

Some travel guides present this area as one of the few spots on Saint-Barthélemy where naturists can enjoy the beach undisturbed. The discretion of the place, combined with its relative isolation, explains this reputation, which mostly spreads by word of mouth.
