Orient Bay

A reference in the Caribbean

Orient Bay holds the title of largest officially designated naturist beach in the Caribbean. It stretches for about a kilometer, on the French side of Saint-Martin, and nudism is authorized there by prefectural decree. This isn't some hidden corner or a strip of sand tolerated grudgingly, it's a recognized status.

The spot's reputation reaches well beyond the island: guides specializing in naturist tourism and Caribbean regulars regularly list it among the must-visits of the genre.

Where you get naked

The naturist zone sits at the northern end of the beach. To get there, you walk along the shoreline, past the restaurants and shops set up by the water, which cater mostly to the textile section.

At the other end, on the south side, stands Club Orient, a naturist resort that long built the place's reputation. Hit by Hurricane Irma in 2017, it began reconstruction, with a reopening announced for 2026.

White sand, sometimes brisk wind

The sand is white and fine, the water generally calm. The wind, steady on this part of the island, can whip up waves depending on the day, a point some visitors flag as a minor downside depending on the season.

Bars and services in the naturist zone

Several beach bars line the naturist zone, with loungers and light food on offer. Nothing like a desert here: you can spend the whole day without leaving the sand to restock.

Access is through the main parking lot, free of charge, then on foot along the coast. No entry fee is required, the beach is open year round and at all hours.

Who you'll find there

The atmosphere is cosmopolitan, with a strong European presence among the regulars. You'll spot couples, women on their own and passing tourists who came to try naturism for the length of a stay, alongside regular practitioners.
