An unspoiled, wild setting
Gouverneur Bay is tucked away on the south coast of Saint-Barthélemy, far from the island's touristy bustle. Its crescent shape and white sand make it one of the island's most photogenic spots, minus the crowds that usually come with that title.
No restaurant, no toilets, not even a first aid post: here, you come for raw nature, not comfort. Local legend has it that a pirate's treasure is still hidden in the nearby caves, which adds a little whiff of adventure to the walk.
Two moods, one sand
The beach splits in two with no barrier or official sign: the right side has been claimed by nudists over time, while the left side stays textile. This informal arrangement works well, everyone naturally finding their spot depending on their habits.
The crowd here tends to be occasional nudists, coming to enjoy a moment of freedom more than to join an organized community.
How to get there
Access is via a narrow road that winds down from the village of Lurin. A free parking lot awaits visitors at the top, followed by a short walk down to the sand.
The drive takes a bit of patience, the winding road not being made for those in a hurry.
