Plage Treguennec

A huge wild beach

Tréguennec beach stretches as far as the eye can see in the town of Tréogat, right in the heart of the Baie d'Audierne. The fine sand and natural dune make it a listed site, protected for its wildlife and plant life. People come here for the space, the wind, the wide open horizon over the Atlantic.

Naturism is tolerated on the northern part of the beach, with respect for other visitors. The rest of the coastline welcomes clothed swimmers, which lets everyone find their spot without confusion.

Swimming banned since 2024

A municipal order passed in 2024 now bans swimming and surfing at Tréguennec, all year round. The decision surprised quite a few regulars of the beach, who until then were used to diving in despite the currents. The undertow is violent along the whole length of the site, with currents known to be dangerous even for strong swimmers.

That doesn't stop you from enjoying the place in other ways: walking on the sand, lazing about, all over tanning on the north side. In summer, there's lifeguard supervision in some areas, but the swimming ban remains in force across the whole beach.

Access and parking

Access is possible from Tréguennec itself as well as from the neighboring towns of Plovan and Tréogat. A natural, sand parking area lets you park right next to the site, with no heavy infrastructure. No particular amenities are noted on site, which fits well with the raw spirit of the place.

What visitors say

Reviews unanimously praise the size of the site and the beauty of the landscape, between dune and ocean. The danger of swimming comes up often in feedback, as does the surprise at the ban passed in 2024. For naturism, the northern part remains identified as the go to spot, also popular as a place to meet people.
