An unspoiled spot

Lavu Santu beach, also called Ovu Santu, stretches for about 300 meters at Sainte-Lucie de Porto-Vecchio, in the town of Zonza. It belongs to the Conservatoire du Littoral, which has deliberately limited direct access with a stone wall. The result: no parking right on the sand, no visible development, just a beach that has kept its wild look.

The coastal vegetation, pines and junipers, grows almost down to the shoreline and offers welcome natural shade, even in the height of summer. It's one of the things regulars often mention: being able to spend a whole day there without roasting in the sun, no need for a parasol.

Who it's for, and why

The water here is especially clear, with good visibility down to the seabed, which draws quite a few snorkelers alongside the naturists. But the beach drops off quickly into deep water, which makes it poorly suited to young children and to swimmers who aren't fully at ease in the water. Those who love this place are generally confident swimmers.

The U Covu river (sometimes written Cavu) marks the far end of the beach, adding an extra touch of natural scenery to the whole, somewhere between the river mouth and the fine sand.

Atmosphere and crowd

Nudity is practiced here without raising an eyebrow, in a setting that stays discreet and far less crowded than the more accessible beaches nearby. People come to Lavu Santu as much for the quiet as for the beauty of the place, far from the bustle.

The reviews found on tourist guides and naturist sites all make the same point: nature comes first here, not amenities. No shops, no lifeguard station mentioned, so it's best to arrive self-sufficient, with water and sun protection despite the shade from the trees.
