The Templiers beach hides deep in the Gorges de l'Ardèche, on the banks of the river, framed by limestone cliffs that drop straight down to the water. It's the only official naturist campsite in the whole area, a 3.5 hectare site where a bare body isn't an option but the rule of the place.
People come here for the river, the sun warmed pebbles and that feeling of being cut off from the world, far from the roads and the touristy bustle of the Gorges.
An access that already sets the mood
No car enters the site: you get there on foot, via a narrow but well kept road, drivable for parking a vehicle under 6 meters before continuing on foot. This detail changes everything: it filters out casual visitors and keeps only those who really come for the calm of the place.
The beach itself is private, made of pebbles, and opens directly onto the clear water of the Ardèche. The site welcomes up to around a hundred people, which stays reasonable for a place of this size.
What you'll find on site
The campsite runs like a small self sufficient village during the season, open from June to September depending on the year. You'll find a restaurant and a bar, yoga classes, a petanque court, volleyball, table tennis and a play area for kids.
On the comfort side, toilets and showers are available on site. The clientele mixes couples, families and solo naturists, of all ages, which gives a rather family friendly vibe despite the isolation of the place.

What the regulars say
Those who know the site talk about authenticity and wild beauty, one of the few places in Europe where naturism is still lived so fully, without compromise with mainstream tourism. Isolation, often seen elsewhere as a drawback, becomes here the main selling point: no engine noise, no outside eyes, just the river and the cliffs.
The naturist community regularly cites this place among the references of the Gorges de l'Ardèche, less for its comfort than for what it preserves: a real, simple relationship to the body and to nature.
