A historic club deep in the mountains
Founded in 1966, Club Soleil Mont Blanc is one of the very first naturist clubs in the French Alps. It spans 4 hectares between Thônes, Annecy and Albertville, in the commune of Saint-Ferréol in Haute-Savoie.
There's no commercial logic at play here: it's a purely associative structure, run by and for its members. The original chalet was renovated by hand by the founders, who carried the materials up the mountain themselves, on foot. That sets the tone: this is far from the standardized naturist campsites you find along the coast.
Simple lodging, alpine setting
The club has a 28 bed dormitory chalet, designed for mountain hospitality rather than hotel style comfort. Tents are allowed on the grounds, but be warned: caravans can't get access, only two minibus spots are available on the parking side.
On site, a panoramic pool takes in the view of the surrounding peaks, along with a sauna, hot showers and sanitary facilities. The kitchen is shared, as are the bread oven and the barbecue, in a spirit of sharing pretty typical of associative clubs of this generation.
Access conditions to know about
Naturism here works in the federal spirit: an FFN or FNI license is required to stay or visit, and identification is requested on arrival. The club opens for the summer season, with exact dates varying from year to year.
Another thing to plan for: no wifi on the grounds, you come here to truly disconnect. Sheets and a sleeping bag need to be brought along yourself, nothing is provided on the bedding side. Rates take the form of an associative membership fee plus participation dues tied to the upkeep of the grounds, with no fixed commercial pricing.
