A club tucked away in the woods
About twenty kilometers from Caen, in the Bois de l'Échelette, Nature et Soleil de Normandie occupies two hectares surrounded by forest and small Calvados villages. The site has around thirty pitches designed for both tents and caravans, with sun and shade depending on what you fancy.
On the amenities side, the club offers a swimming pool and well kept green spaces for relaxing. This is far from an XXL campsite packed with nonstop activities: here, the vibe is that of a family club where everyone knows everyone a little, with around a hundred members on the books.
Access reserved for license holders
This isn't a naturist campsite open to anyone curious about naturism: entry requires a current license from the FFN or the INF. So you need to already be involved in the associative practice to pitch up here, which naturally filters the crowd and sets a trusting atmosphere from the moment you arrive.
The campsite only runs during the warm season, from July to September. Outside that window, no bookings are possible, as the place closes completely for the rest of the year.
What visitors say
Online feedback varies quite a bit depending on the time of year. Some visitors praise the setting: peaceful forest, pleasant surrounding villages, a feeling of complete calm far from the hustle and bustle.
Other reviews are much harsher and point to aging facilities, notably a sanitary block described as old and poorly maintained, as well as pitches overrun with tall grass. Some even cut their stay short over it. So it's hard to know in advance what you'll find, as upkeep seems to vary depending on the moment in the season.
Who it's for
This club mainly suits families and couples who already hold a license with a naturist federation and are looking for a quiet corner of nature in Normandy rather than a camping club with hotel style services. Those who come for simplicity and the forest will find what they're after, those expecting modern infrastructure risk being disappointed.
